Playing with threads...

I tend to under estimate how long some of my projects take to complete so when I see something I like, I rarely consider the amount of effort involved. This is the case with the current project I am on.

I will reveal more of the details once its done but I have been 'playing' with my threads...

And here is a sneak preview ...

And now for some music...

Do you remember Harry Nilsson in the song  "Without you" ?
Harry Nilsson III (June 15,1942 - January 15, 1994) was an American singer-songwriter and Grammy winner for two of his recordings.

What I've been doing

This is my 10th block that I have made as part of the Civil War Bride Quilt. I have reached my goal of 10 blocks for the year but since I'm enjoying making this quilt so much I'm going to continue to aim for a completed block a month..

I had a birthday last week so I treated myself to a kit called Grace, by 3 sisters (Moda).
I love the look of  the logcabin blocks and houses and this quilt has the perfect combination.
The kit came from The Thrifty Needle .  Please check them out as I received great customer service from this site and the prices are very reasonable.

I have already started the roofs and the chimneys and began to cut all the other strips ....

I also received from my friend Jan-Maree  these blocks as part of the swop I participate in line with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge

Finally I'll leave you with a picture of a corner in the garden just outside my quilting studio. Today in Melbourne we are having a lovely sunny day, birds singing and the fragrant smells of the flowers...
Perfect day...

Blocks progress and shopping

I completed a couple of on-going blocks with my civil war fabrics.  Still catching up with blocks 9 and 20.

And blocks 28 and 27 (made by a fellow quilter).

Managed to finish another Civil War Bride block.. the 9th out of 20 blocks plus a border.

Purchase a couple of books..

This one on stitcheries...Cotton Floss  Natalie Lymer has lovely projects.

And another  book on bags...

But the most exciting purchade is the bias maker. I briefly tested and believe it will save me a lot of time when I do projects that require stems for applique.
