I am very honored to have won 1st Place for the Pieced Traditional Amateur category at this year's Quilt Showcase organized by Victorian Quilters (Australia).
This exhibition takes place once a year in September in Melbourne and it attracts a variety of quilts in many categories with several hundred quilts on display.
This year my quilt was all machined pieced and I quilted it in my long arm (non computerized).
I nearly didn't enter as I had to travel overseas for several weeks unexpectedly but within a week of the deadline I put in my entry form.
I had a couple of friends do the same pattern but theirs had different fabrics, so it was even more fun.
Basically my goal was using my stash of fabrics and use bakit fabrics that my daughter purchased in Bali last year; hence the name "Batik Folly".
The pattern was from Bonnie Hunter's yearly mystery quilt (Nov 2025 - Jan 2026) made in 8 parts. My colors are completely different than the suggested ones so it was a gamble; but it worked out once all the blocks were sewn together.
